Personal Stories About ‘Persistence’

PERSISTENCE

Momentum

When looking at our problems it can seem quite impossible to even budge them, much less make a significant impact. Often momentum matters more than strength, and persistence more than initial impact. I heard about this being done when I was in high school: A teacher hung a bowling ball from the ceiling and...

I Was Just About To Give Up On My Life Long Dream

It was an incredibly tough time in my life. A few years ago, I felt as though my world was crumbling. Everything seemed to be going wrong for me. To start with, I was overworked and overwhelmed trying to finish my college degree while holding down a night job as a nurse. I was working through a hurtful breakup,...

A Strange Example

Is it strange to tell a story about a cat? I know cats don't have the higher moral capabilities humans are said to posses, but my cat is nothing if not persistent. And he's always pleasant about it. When he's ready to get up, he'll let you know. And if you don't get up, he'll persist in trying to wake you until...

Brett E

My hero is someone who inspires me to never give up, Brett Eastburn. He inspires me to never give up and to never think you can't do something. My hero was born with no legs or arms. Even without these he was on his school basketball, football and wrestling team because he never gave up

PERSISTENCE

Robert F

My dad is my hero because he was always there for me no matter what and he was always ready to teach me things. He taught me the value of perseverance and that in order to make it in the world you had to get out there and make it happen yourself. He died a few days ago and now I realize all that he meant to me...

Those Who Don't Give Up

When I was trying to decide who was my biggest hero, I realized I couldn't make up my mind. And then another idea came. I've seen people in poverty, people struggling to hold a job, and in many hard, stressful situations. The fact that these people don't give up, and try their hardest for the sake of others makes...

I only have this to say,: "If you hate anything, it means you envy something. If you like everything, it means you attract all things."

Thirteen years ago we formed a non-profit organization that would allow dogs to run freely on a one mile beach. We fought the Coastal Commission the City Council, and through PERSISTENCE 250,000 dogs and their families visit 'dog' beach each year and Huntington Beach, CA has just been awarded "Most Dog Friendly City in the USA." www.dogbeach.org martin@dogbeach.org
