Things Will Always Get Better

My troubles started when I was 6. My mother was taking a babysitter home, my brother and I were riding with them. We had to cross a railroad track to get to the babysitters house. The tracks were mis-marked and the train didn't blow its horn, and ended up dragging our car a half mile down the track. My 3 year old...

I have been struggling to overcome my problem with alcohol. I know that this is a problem many people deal with, it isn't an easy thing to do. It's not only a big part of our culture, but legal. Most of us start drinking before 21, so it becomes a way of life. I'm only 20 and I'm already trying to stop. I've realized that after you drink, your problems are still going to be there. My advice is find a group you can go to close to you, it really helps to know you're not the only one trying to be sober. And remember, take one day at a time. Worry about not drinking the present day, you only have 24 hours. Also stay away from places that will tempt you to drink. It may be hard, but trust me, it feels so good to get through another day without drinking. Know you're good enough to really be happy.

Being a Grandmother who is raising a grandchild, overcoming the age gap is monumental. Especially when the child is 13. As each day passes, I have to overcome obstacles that I never thought I would have to do at the age of 70. Love, Patience, Kindness, Understanding is paramount however, willingness to give each day it's best is joy~!
