Personal Stories About ‘Good Manners’

GOOD MANNERS

Just A Few Seconds

Today at a fast-food restaurant I was standing next to their new drink machine, it has a touch screen and can be relatively confusing. There was an older gentleman there trying to get ice and didn't understand how, I proceeded to show him how, and then helped him find and get the drink he wanted. It felt good to...

I Can Be Good Too

As parents, we're nothing if not educators. Ever since our daughter was born, when I leave her, to go to work for instance, I tell her, "You be a good girl, and I'll be a good boy too." I'm not perfect, but through this she knows that I expect her to be good and that she should expect me to be good also. It also...

My mother always said, "Good manners make us nice to know." Simple, but so true.

When you cross directly in front of someone, blocking their way, when they are clearly searching for an item on a grocery or pharmacy shelf, please say, "Excuse me." I find that most people do not say this and I find it rude. I feel as if I am invisible. I always say, "Excuse me" when I need to block them, even for a second or two. Bring back good manners!
