Calvin Mann

I would like to nominate Calvin T. Mann as my hero!

A coach for more than 28 years he has served as an advocate for children and youth ensuring educational opportunities for more than 75% of youth he coached. Today he is a community leader and advocate in building families through boys and fathers a consuming job that is engaged almost 18 hours per day.

The organizer of the National Respect Day movement he is sharing the message of tolerence and peace through respect.

Working behind the scenes through EMIY Inc (Encourage Me I'm Young) and GFO (Good Fathers Only) a non-profit he founded in 2008, he has helped to grow and support many youth serving organizations, causes, and community outreach efforts.

He channels his efforts in developing boys through the EMIY Future Leaders Program mentoring boys ages 8-14 developing character, confidence, team work, and literacy using sports a both recreation and leafership pathways.  GFO mentors and supports men with the intention of becoming better fathers. The growing network assists men work through crisis intervention, parenting education, communications skills, and supportive resources to become a good actively engaged parent.

When it comes to compassion, vision, reliability, and commitment to change and solutions Calvin is a solid example in Metro Detroit.  More than anything He lives what he believes.
