Joannie R. is my hero because to me, she represents what it means to be a great Canadian. She has pride in her country and isn't scared to be proud of her roots and where she came from. I believe this is a great quality for a person to have because it shows that she has values and integrity in what she does. She represents our country in a dignified and wonderful manner and that has taught me no matter where I go in this world that I should hold my head high and represent my family and myself proudly. Joannie sets her goals and sees herself as an equal to others in the skating world and will continually strive to achieve her goals. This inspires me to not give up when I have the urge to quit and to persevere and achieve my dreams. She inspires me to be a better person and to never take things that are given to me in life for granted. Watching her go through the ups and downs of being a competitive athlete makes me want to strive and achieve my goals.
