My hero is a 16-year-old boy named Travis. Travis has always been a kid with an amazing spirit. He always had a positive attitude and a smile on his face. His greatest love in life is sports - specifically football and he was good at it. As a freshman he played varsity special teams for the state championship team.
At the end of Travis's freshman year of high school he was diagnosed with leukemia and given a 35 percent chance of survival. Many times the doctors have said that Travis would never play sports again. Travis wouldn't believe it.
"Life is like a football game sometimes you get knocked down but you just have to get back in the huddle and go again," he said. Travis continues to keep a positive attitude. This year — a year and a half after he was diagnosed with cancer — he is again playing football for his high school team.
