My mother was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer in 2002, while I was in the fourth grade. My parents were divorced and my older sister and I spent three weeks out of the month with my mother, who was a single mom. I was amazed at her strength when she received the news of her diagnosis. I never saw her cry or whine. She made sure my sister and I completed our homework and she made sure we ate dinner. She was Super Mom. The most amazing thing happened the day she received a very difficult chemotherapy treatment, which happened to be Halloween. She dressed up as Uncle Fester with her bald head and went out trick-or-treating with us. The picture from that Halloween is one of my favorites of my mother, it shows how truly strong she is. Today, she is a proud survivor.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
