My sophomore year in high school I joined my school's step team. It was my first time stepping and thought it would be cool to try something new since I was really shy my freshman year. After the club ended that year, I was nominated to be step captain for my junior year. I didn’t think I was fit for the job, but everyone insisted. My junior year came around, step started right at the beginning of the year, and I had no idea what I was doing. After a while I got the hang of it and can say now that I am thankful for my advisor and teammates for giving me the confidence to become such a great captain and, as my advisor would say, “Blossoming into a young lady.” and breaking out of my shell. If it wasn’t for somebody else to see the confidence in me, then I wouldn’t be as confident as I am today.
