A number of years ago while working as an EMT with a small rural Ambulance service, I was called to a very serious car accident 25 miles out of town. When we arrived on scene, we found two vehicles, one of which was completely engulfed in flames. As I was treating one of the patients who had a badly broken arm, he kept asking me how the others were. I was quite taken by his concern for the other occupants, even though they had missed a stop sign and hit his vehicle.
I was later informed that this person had crawled out of his vehicle through a window, entered the other vehicle (as it was beginning to catch fire) pulled both of the occupants out and to safety and then proceeded to walk more than a half mile to a nearby farmhouse to call 911. All of this with a badly broken arm. Never once did he ask "Will I be alright?", his only concern were for the two people that he freed from the other vehicle.
