We were traveling to Michigan two days before Christmas, and stopped in a Huddle House for breakfast. The restaurant was mildly full, but service was a little slow because there was only one young waitress trying to handle all the customers. She was working at full speed, yet had a smile for everyone. Her young son was also there, drawing pictures in a booth, and every time he tugged at her apron to show her what he'd done she turned to him with her full attention and a smile. We were so impressed with her generosity of spirit that we left her a tip equal to the amount of the bill. The point of this story is not what we did, but what she showed to us - grace under fire and kindness under all circumstances.
