The Mountain

These are poem's I wrote two weeks ago upon completing my Masters degree, I am a non-traditional student, (49 years old) and have been back in college at Michigan State University, I finished my bachelors degree in 2006 and continued on-these are my poems---

The Mountain
By
Thomas F. M.

As the journey begins, the excitement builds, apprehension is the norm,
The road appears to be long, winding and formidable,
The mountain is on the horizon, an unusual sight, like a cloud in the distance, a glimmering sight,
How long a journey, to accomplish my goal,
Of climbing the mountain,
Weathering all storms,
As the mountain grows closer, in my quest to succeed
I realize the mountain is gigantic indeed,
Apprehension grips me, fear, doubt, can I do it?
At the base of the foothill I realize the trek,
Will take all my effort, hard work, discipline,
Oh my goodness, god please be with me
I truly will need all of your help.

The road up the scrabble,
Is rough, it is coarse,
My goodness why do I do this,
It can't be worth the work.
As the climb continues, the are many routes,
Others have done this, which way is for me?
Paths, there are many, confusing this quest,
Is this truly necessary, to become one of the best?
There are many who doubt my ascension, my goal,
It is those who have never made the journey,
Those there are plenty,
Who whisper among themselves, what a fool, what a pity.

The journey up the mountain is difficult and hard,
It is those who encourage, mentor and give guidance,
That keeps my feet moving, slowly up the path of righteous.
The goal is achievable,
The summit can be seen,
Keep working, keep walking,
Never give up the dream.
It is a lonely road, ascending this hill,
This road to success will help me understand,
That life is a series of mountains, of dreams.

As I reach the summit, that moment, that time,
My life is forever changed, I now realize.
The view from the mountaintop,
Glorious and spectacular,
I now have the confidence to do something special.
Take what I have learned, in my quest to the top,
Help others understand the power of learning.
For it is through education that one climbs the mountain,
Ascending, growing and giving,
Is the meaning of being,
Help others understand the quest can be done,
Never give up the dream, of climbing the mountain.

And the second-

Light-
In the beginning there was only darkness,
Cold and formidable gloom
As the great one, the creator, saw the potential,
He said, 'Let there be Light',
Away with this doom

In an instant the energy emboldened,
The universe and vastness
The power that can enlighten, open minds and brighten,
A phoenix to help all in greatness,
Remove all of the darkness,
Warm life, luminance, bright light, and wisdom

Yes it occurs in many fashions,
Directly or not very so,
How lucky we all are to have,
Gods gift, special sunlight, the glow.

However in his great wisdom,
He gave us more than just warmth,
For light comes in many fashions,
A multitude, great depth

From the birth of ones children,
Their smiles sincere and pure,
The moments that one can always treasure,
so right
Of that I am sure,
Give thanks for the blessing of children,
For they give us all,
Their unique and special light

How is it that it that in life you can help one?
Can guide, give counsel, teach?
Reach out to those less fortunate,
Help others, the ones out of reach.
To give of oneself unselfishly,
To possess that intrinsic desire,
To share gods gift of sharing,
Giving the hope, stoking ones fire,
The burning passion that exists
In the goodness of
those to admire.
Light

It exists in ones eyes, heart or soul,
At the end of the tunnel it lives,
And it can guide to fulfillment,
The light it continues to give,

It takes away uncertainty,
The energy to help grow, to build on,
Never give up on dreams or passion
For it is always darkest before dawn,
And in the morn there is always the light.

It melts away the darkness, mystery and cold,
The light, the one he has given
Through true love one can embolden,
A soul mates love and devotion,
Because when one discovers,
the light of ones own passion,
It is truly through love, through kinship
That the light has fulfilled its mission

I hope my messages touch anyone and everyone, inspires even one person to never give up, because it is through hope that you can achieve your dream.
