A few years ago, my husband of nearly twenty years died of cancer. The love of my life. We had been high school sweethearts, and married at the age of eighteen. I was devastated, heartbroken, and totally consumed by grief. I couldn't eat or sleep. The noise in my head was so loud and my heart so heavy, I could barely breathe.
Blinded by fear, it, had become my new constant companion. Without him, I couldn't and didn't want to go on. I was struggling to go on with my life.
Just when I needed it most, a feeling of calm washed over me, the noise finally stopped, and I heard a voice as clear as day, "you are loved." The tears stopped falling and I could see it all so clearly. I was loved. My family loved me unconditionally and I felt it with every fiber of my being. How could I possibly think of causing them so much pain and suffering?
I knew at that moment, with their love, I could and would survive my pain...And I have!
