Most people personally know their heroes or have at least interacted with them. Unfortunately, I haven't had the honor to do either of those. Johnathan was killed in Afghanistan the same time I was deployed to that region and we were set to go home around the same time. What I experienced in Afghanistan changed me but having the honor to bring his remains onto the plane that was taking him home left an imprint on my soul that I will never forget. His leaving brought my understanding and greater appreciation of life and being a good person and enjoying life each and every day.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
