My father was raised in the projects of West New York where he met my mother. He gave up his dream of being a veterinarian to become a truck driver in order for my sister and I to have a chance at a decent life on Long Island. My father is also a volunteer firefighter and on 9/11 he and the other members of his fire department went to Ground Zero to search for their fallen brothers. He sacrificed his dream and willingly goes into harms way to help others. That is why my father is my hero.
