Many people might think a hero is someone that they look up to in admiration, but I actually look down on my hero, literally of course. Her name is Lizzie, and she is my little sister. Our family has been through a lot, from deployments, to parental struggles, but somehow, my little sister finds a way to cheer us up through it all. There are little things she says and does that make us all laugh. For example, she calls a fly swatter a "flapper". It makes sense, doesn't it?
Lizzie was four when our dad was deployed to Iraq for two and a half years, and there were definite struggles between my brother, my mom, and me. I think the only thing that kept us sane was the fact that Lizzie could make us laugh, in any situation, at any time. Lizzie isn't a perfect person - I can tell you that right now - but she has so many admirable qualities about her. It isn't just her sense of humor that makes her a great person, she's a protective and loving little girl. However, I've always admired the fact that Lizzie can lighten up any situation and make us all feel a little better when we need it most.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.
