Dr. B-L is a Professor of History in New Mexico. The strength she has exhibited in her classroom is amazing. She has an unbelievable passion for teaching, learning, and living and has more than earned the respect her students have for her. While teaching a few years ago, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Through the therapy, removal of a breast, and the loss of her hair, she was in class pretty much every day teaching us everything she knew about history and herself. She shared her pain with all of us and yet was still there to help all of us with anything that we may be having trouble with in our lives. Well, she had to go out of town to an appointment to find out if the cancer was back and it wasn't. However, her husband was driving back from that appointment alone and he was killed in a car accident. She didn't miss much time from school after that happened and she was back in the classroom doing what she was born to do - teach. She has an amazing will to live and amazing strength to keep on moving when life gets really tough. She continues to be an inspiration to most of her students. She truly is my hero. Without her I wouldn't be who or where I am today.

We've all had people in our lives who have made a positive impact on us. A parent or grandparent, a sibling who was there for us, or maybe even just a guy who shines shoes for a living? Whoever they are, tell us their story so they can inspire us even more.Tell Us Your Story All Everyday Hero Stories
