Paul is a Scout leader and he teaches scouts. He also oversees all the sections in the Portland group as commissioner and he has many other things for scouting that he does on a daily basis. No matter how busy he is, he always has time to talk to those of us that need a little help and push once in a while. Paul has made scouting easy and enjoyable for us. He has earned his reputation in scouting. I have adopted him as my hero because he has taken the time to help me make my dreams of a teacher a reality.

The way your father taught you is really very unusual. As a teacher, I love it, for I've learned a new skill in teaching my students. Thank you! Hope to read more new stories.

I love it! Tough and self-reliant, yet humble; he gave you great gifts. Carry on!

I don't know what to say but I'm happy that I found that kind of story... it's really touched my heart. Thanks. I really appreciate all the support around, especially from my family.

I'm a track runner and I was in the exact same scenario. I still don't tell my parents when my meets are because I don't want them to see me come in last place so I understand what your dad is saying and he is awesome.

I don't have words to comment on this! It's really touching. My eyes are filled with tears of happiness. I will try to bring my children up in this way. A great lesson to be learned. Hats off to your dad!

I cried reading this too! I'm learning these loving reassurances that I didn't have as a child. I hope to pass along when I have kids; my husband has a great dad like yours!

I cried reading this story as so many parents these days do not invest the time to guide their children along the right path. It is this guidance that is needed to make younger, less experienced people aware of their own capabilities and as such be responsible for their own actions - good and bad. Your father was indeed and very wise and caring man.
