Dylan has had a multitude of problems, most of which were simply the vicissitudes of life. He has dealt with emotional problems including depression and anxiety, which have been overwhelming at times. In an attempt to help other young men, he was beaten up and left unconscious which caused an irrationality of thought for a period of time. Following closely on the heels of the assault, Dylan was in a car accident when another person ran a red light, which has left him in daily pain.
At 19, he has faced some of life's greatest traumas; yet he continues to reach out and help others. He brought a friend that had become addicted to meth to college with him to attempt to help him become clean. At a recent bonfire, another young man was freezing. Dylan took off his shirt and gave it to the other young man. He sees the needs of others and reaches out to help wherever possible.
Sometimes it's the little acts of kindness that make someone a hero. When those acts of kindness continue to be committed despite emotional turmoil, despite having received a rather brutal beating because of the act of kindness, and despite physical pain; then this young man deserves commendation.
