A Community Secret Santa Delivers $1 Million in Life-changing Gifts.

Each day through the end of the year, the anonymous donor will give away cash, gift cards, cars and other prizes. The donor will choose each gift to match individual recipients' unique needs and circumstance. 

East Idaho News, a local TV news station, has been assisting in the effort. The news team asked their viewers to submit local nominations, and the staff and donor work together to select which nominees will receive the gifts. 

Nominees include kindhearted residents who have served the community throughout the years – as well as some individuals and families experiencing exceptional financial or emotional hardships. The news crew dons festive hats as they excitedly surprise recipients at their homes with a life-changing Secret Santa gift.

One young couple received a brand-new car and a large check. As the couple’s 2-year-old daughter battles a rare, life-threatening medical condition, the bills for her treatment continue to grow. She has undergone more than 30 surgeries, which have required out-of-state travel. The girl's mom uses the couple's single car to drive to various medical appointments, while her dad commutes to his 10-hour-per-day job by bicycle. The new car and check are meant to help ease the couple’s burden so they can focus on their daughter’s care. 

Another couple received a check to help pay for a specialized lift chair for their adult son. His disability prevents him from climbing stairs in their home, which resulted in significant challenges for the family. 

Other worthy recipients of the donor's generosity include: a young dad who has been unable to work following a motorcycle crash; a beloved community volunteer who could not afford a hearing aid; a tireless nurse known for working double shifts; and a kindhearted volunteer who knits hats for babies for free. 

The Foundation for a Better Life and PassItOn believes that Idaho Falls’ Secret Santa is a hero. The charitable campaign is a great example of the value of helping others. It aims to provide support, relief and hope for community members in need and recognition to those who unselfishly serve their community. It also spreads goodwill within the community during the holiday season by acknowledging the struggles many people currently face. The Secret Santa program encourages the community to look out for one another and to unite in shared support.
