When I began dating my husband, he had an 8 month old son. We married a short time later when baby boy was almost 14 months old. He has a mother, she tries to participate but usually falls short. I’ve always called him my baby., even though he’s now 8 years old. I’ve had 3 children since I’ve been married. When people ask how many kids I have, my answer is always four. When our oldest’s classmates ask if I’m his mom, I answer the same way we always have. “Well he’s one of those lucky kids that gets to have two moms and a dad. Pretty cool huh?” I wish there wasn’t such a stigma on step parents. I’m a poster child for multiple step parents, each of my parents have been married 5 times. I can’t remember ever being treated poorly. My step parents showed me how to be a good step parent and parent. Not all step parents are bad or trying to take the biological parents place. Sometimes a step parent is just filling the gap, loving the child as their own or believe it not just parenting. I’m a firm believer in this “” No child can have too many parents, nor can they have too many people to love them””

I agree. My dad went through this and still does. My best friend in the world has this problem and people just can’t seem to understand. Just keep your head up.
