I am a 25-year old male with cerebral palsy (CP) & recovered from anorexia nervosa (AN). Both majorly impacted my life. I was bullied because of my CP. I felt alone and with no friends. This affected the development of AN; I became obsessed with my weight/appearance. My CP caused me to "stand out" and I didn't want another reason to bully me. I decreased my food intake and eventually was medically unstable. I entered an eating disorder (ED) treatment center, where females outnumbered me, causing anxiety. Today, I am recovered & pursing a career as a dietician within EDs & raising awareness about male EDs. I want to use my own experience and story to help make it easier for other males to seek help. In addition, I hope as a male dietician in EDs that male patients will feel a sense of comfort to discuss their concerns with me regarding their food, as I have been there before and I can directly relate to them.
